Dealing with the needs of young offenders has changed over the years. Research has shown us that community-based alternatives are more effective than incarceration in preventing repeat offences. Over the last two decades, the province has invested more funds in community-based alternatives including intensive support and supervision programs, day programs and full-time attendance programs, substance abuse programs, community service and restorative justice services. |
