October is Foster Family Month in British Columbia, an opportunity to recognize foster families for the remarkable contributions they make to children and families in our communities each and every day. There are 3,300 foster families in the province who open their hearts and give children a safe, nurturing and supportive home when they are unable to be with their own families.
In addition to appreciation events being held across the province, an online blog at fosterbc.blogspot.com will feature a new posting each day in October and will include videos, foster family stories, thank you messages, and information that celebrates fostering in British Columbia. We hope you will subscribe to the blog and learn more about B.C.s fostering community.
As an integral member of the team that helps children return to their families or make the transition to an adoptive family, foster families are a vital component of our services to children.We hope that you will take the time to honour foster families in your community, in October and throughout the year.
